Walking Hadrian's Wall Path

Hadrian's Wall is the finest surviving frontier work from any part of the classical Roman empire, recognised in 1987 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail follows the line of this ancient monument.

The Emperor Hadrian's stone wall was started in AD122. It runs from coast to coast, between the tidal River Tyne at Newcastle in the east and the Solway Firth, west of Carlisle.
