The 145km (90 mile) route is described in nine stages and links most of the main valleys of the national park, each with unique qualities and views. The tour can be compressed into one week or extended over a fortnight, giving time to visit many attractions on the way. Also described are five alternative stages that will take you to some of the Lake District's highest fells, including Coniston Old Man, Scafell Pike, Great Gable and Helvellyn.
